The saga continues... There is life after Bella...
The Cullen family have been through so many trials and tribulations to last several lifetimes, and in their case, being vampires and all... indeed they had had more than their share. Carlisle and Esme had been noticing the younger members of their vampire brood growing increasingly restless. During their sleepless nights, they started to ponder and discuss between themselves, whether it was time, time to move on again... and just maybe this time, not to just some remote little hide-away town or settlement but to actually relocate much further a field....further than they had ever dared to venture! Rosalie and Emmet had broached the subject too, earlier at a recent family get together. Afterall, Emmet had stated "There are not many towns left, that we have not already lived in." He sadly agreed with Carlisle and Esme, it did seem they were running out towns and out of options.
One Saturday night, while they were getting ready to have their usual family 'movie-get-together' night, it had been Edward's turn to choose the flick. He had randomly out-of-the-blue chosen 'Lord of the Rings'.Generally, Edward could not stand really long movies (...or sagas for that matter) they would bore him to death (he sometimes wished they would... literally!). However, he told his family, he had been intrigued while overhearing a conversation in the video store, some interesting commentary regarding a tiny little known, rarely mentioned 'spec' of a country and its magnificent abundance of breath-taking beautiful landscapes... the forests, mountains, valleys, gorges and lakes. Following the movie that night, Esme decided to excuse herself and quietly went upstairs to her bedroom. She leaned over to her desk and pulled out her ipad to google images and information regarding this new and far off land called; New Zealand! After she had perused through the many and various images and other information, she curiously wondered to herself ; 'What if, what if....there was an actual coven of vampires that just might exist in such a remote corner of the world?"...
A few weeks later, Carlisle had summoned all the member's of the Cullen family. He smiled as usual, always happy to see them all, though this time there was a noticeable sadness in his eyes. Carlisle decided he needed to cut to the chase and get to the point and then exclaimed; "My dear and much beloved brood, it is with great sadness that I wish to make an important announcement. I have made a decision that will affect our entire immediate family." Rosalie and Emmet looked over directly at each other knowingly but remained silent. Carlisle hesitated a little then continued; "Esme and I have been giving a great deal of consideration to the subject we are about to broach with all of you". Esme suddenly felt she had to interject before her husband had a chance to continue. "As you all must realise by now, it's that 'time' again". "Time that we must be moving on, for our family's sake as well as for our very own survival, you are all aware of the peril we risk and it is too dangerous for us to linger in any one place for too long." Carlisle looked over at his wife sympathetically, "I know it can get frustrating having to keep uprooting ourselves, especially when a place can evoke some wonderful memories". "Unfortunately, as vampires, it is a necessary and vital part for our survival and very existence."
Several months had passed, Edward and Bella had since broken up. Throughout all the tense clashes between Edward and Jacob over Bella, it seemed that somehow a spark had ignited a strange connection between the two...two rival enemies. They had both sensed a deep connection, though neither would admit to their feelings for the other. Bella has resigned herself to the fact there was really nothing she could do. It seemed they had grown tired of fighting over her and there were times they had both felt she had played them for a fool (afterall, she was of the Libra star sign and it wasn't her fault, she merely couldn't make up her mind: "Team Edward' or "Team Jacob'(secretly she had wanted them both). Bella had started noticing that whenever the two were together, Edward's eyes would have that soft amber glow to them and that at times, she catch Jacob with that sad 'puppy-dog' look to him whenever Edward walked away and then at other times, she had to scold Jacob to literally stop drooling! She had decided to step back and end the relationship, though everyone believed it was a mutual break up. She knew in her heart she had to let Edward go, it was only fair.
The Cullen family decided that year, to immigrate to New Zealand and settled in Auckland. Carlisle was able to secure employment at a hospital, working night shifts. They went and bought a lovely home up in the Waitakeries. It was the perfect place for them, giving them the privacy they needed. Edward decided to enrol at AUT university, though he had heard that one of the top faculty members was an actual member of the Vulturi... He'd had had enough of high schools and had asked Carlisle to write a medical note for him to explain the necessity for him to wear shades in class and to sometimes have the classroom blinds pulled down. Alice decided to do psychic readings which gave her the chance to help with the family's finance. Jasper wasn't too happy because he was assigned to go hunting for the family and lamented that seeing there was a lack of deer, he was beginning to hop through the forest like the rabbits he chased as opposed to sprinting like a deer!
As for Jacob, he decided to follow Edward all the way to New Zealand. He was not impressed when he was forced into quarantine! He vowed to write a strongly worded complaint to the American Embassy in Auckland. Edward laughed when he found out about poor Jacob's predicament but told Jacob he would get his family to intervene... Jacob was not amused but was happy that he had made the journey.
